One after another racial attacks on Indian students namely Baljinder Singh, Saurabh Sharma, Shrawan Kumar (he is battling for his life), Rajesh Kumar and Nardeep Singh, in Australia have brought our attention towards the increasing rate of racism. No doubt the whole world is deeply disturbed by the events that happened in Australia.
Every year a number of students from India fly offshore for studies to make their dreams come true. There are between 70,000 and 95,000 Indian students enrolled in Australian universities who also add value to Australian economy by paying educational fees and taxes to the government. Despite of this, many natives of Australia feel threatened by the increasing number of Indians, which is the main reason behind these attacks. This situation has increased fear among millions of Indian students studying not only in Australia but all other countries, about their safety. Many students in India have abandoned their ideas of going to Australia for further studies.
These racial attacks have become a matter of universal shame. Governments along with the citizens of all countries should come forward to bring racism to an end. We should behave as polite human beings and keep in our minds that God has created us in different colours, creeds, races, tribes and nations, not to fight with one another, but understand our differences and love one another. Let us all make this world a happier place to live and save the lives of millions of innocents by curing this ‘racism epidemic’.
